The nutritionist chronicles – Part 5

The following is the fifth installment of my visits with my new nutritionist. We signed on for a 9 visit program, and I will journal about each visit.

I have to mention that between visits, I keep in touch with my nutritionist. She has bent over backwards to get me product, complimentary tests, and pulled strings to get me in with the top medical doctor. I have been quite impressed, and think if someone deserves accolades, it would be my nutritionist.

After my last visit, I was getting bouts of nausea, and feeling very run down. I just didn’t feel right. I sent her an email and let her know. She replied and said my body was full of toxins, and I needed to get them out. She told me to do coffee enemas. I thought she was joking, but come to find out, they help cleanse the toxins from your liver, and are quite common these days. I Googled coffee enemas, got directions, and I have to tell you, the nausea went away. She told me to keep them up, as they will help my liver with the cleansing of toxins.

On my next visit I was down another half pound. She got the results back from my adrenal and hormone tests. Just as she suspected, I needed more help. My body has inflammation. She is going to start me on some protein powder designed to help get rid of the inflammation. It does not taste the best, ok, it is down right nasty, but this is to help my body. I also have quite the vitamin D deficiency. Between her and the medical doctor she works with, I am on vitamin D drops, and thyroid medicine. I am eating no dairy, and no grains, but am taking a medical protein powder to help with the inflammation.

I am still drinking 3 diet pops a day, so she asked how that was going. I hadn’t made any improvements on cutting back anymore, so we compromised by the next visit to be down to 1 a day. This is going to take some more serious work on my part.

My game plan is to stick to the exercising three days a week, two light cardio days, and one day of weight training. I am to keep eating 1100 calories a day, although some days I do 1030-1070. I get paranoid of going over my calories for the day. I aim low, and then if my blood sugar goes low, and I need to eat some grapes, or extra protein powder, I am sure not to go over the allotted 1100.

I go back to the nutritionist in 3 weeks, and see the medical doctor in 8 weeks. The medical doctor had mentioned that the dose of thyroid medicine may be too low, but if she were to crank me up to the dose she feels I need, I would be full of anxiety, and may have heart palpitations, get jittery, the whole nine yards, so she is starting me on a low dose. My question is, is it going to be enough to get my body back to losing weight and not being so drained?

As you have probably noticed, my main focus is on losing weight. I want to be fit, and have nice muscular definition, but I want to lose the fat my body is holding on to. I am a very driven, anal, persistent, and overly tenacious person. I have sunk my teeth into this goal, and nothing has loosened my grip. I am still persistent, and will not give up.
