Nutritionist chronicles – part 8

Just when we thought we were on the right track

I had been exercising 5 days a week. Calories were 1200. I thought things were going to go well. It turns out lean muscle mass is down, and body fat is up. Water weight was not an issue this time. My overall weight has come down another pound and a half.

What the heck is going on? I had some labs done with my endocrinologist. She was under the impression that my hypothyroid had developed into Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. it sounded made up, but sure enough, it’s a real disease.

My thyroid meds had been increased, but my thyroid levels were still going down. The lab were negative for Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. However, the tests came back positive for an auto immune disease of some sort. I’ll be seeing a Rheumatologist. WOW! Is this what growing old is all about? I don’t like it. Not one bit.

The plan with the nutritionist is going to be to cut calories back down to 1100, and stick with 3 days of exercise. We decided to concentrate on two days resistance training, and one day cardio work. Hopefully this will help build the lean muscle mass my body is losing, and muscle helps burn fat. Sounds like a win-win.

I see the Rheumatologist at the end of the month. I am trying to hang in there, and just keep working my butt off. It will all come together, just need all the puzzle pieces. Todd has been such a GREAT supporter. He is always in my corner cheering me on, pushing me to give it my all, and telling me how proud he is of me. Who could ask for a better support system?
