Schick Hydro 5-Review

Ok, now that we have all that dealt with, let’s get to the good stuff.

In our last few orders from bodybuilding.com we’ve received a free Schick Hydro 5 razor.

I hate the idea of razors with a dozen blades. I tried one with four blades a while back, and I hated it. The head of the razor was so big that I couldn’t shave my lip.

That experience made me leery of a 5-bladed razor-you know, since five is more than four and all.

I soaped up my face (I don’t use shaving cream-just soap lather), and went to work with the Schick Hydro 5. Oh my!

That was amazing. Honestly, I can’t remember ever having a shave that close, and with relatively little effort. The blades actually have little guards on the ends. I don’t think they keep you from cutting yourself, but they’re supposed to help manipulate the hair and cut it closer to the skin. Brilliant.

One of the cool features is the strip of gel that activates when it gets wet. Seriously, this thing is awesome. I don’t really know what else to say about it. Guys, this thing will make your face baby-butt smooth. Ladies, all your lady parts will be slick, and silky to the touch.

Want one? You have a couple choices.

  1. Go to your local store, and pick up one of your very own.
  2. Go to bodybuilding.com, place an order, and maybe you’ll get one.
  3. Leave a comment below. I’ll pick two, and send each a Schick Hydro 5 of your very own.

  2. I prefer mens razors to womens. I think they shave better. I could go into more detail, but this isn’t my blog ;)

LOL, thanks Julie. Being a frequent reader of Momspective, I’m sure that I know where you’d go if you elaborated more.

These things work awesome. I’ll just leave it at that. :)

I have a Quatro that my mother gave me. Is one more blade really necessary?

  5. Todd says:

Becca uses a Quatro also, but has been using the Hydro and loving it. It’s not just the 5th blade, but also how the blades are made, and that hydro gel strip.

Just recently, my wife picked up one of these for me. Love it.

I just switched from an electric shaver (Philips Norelco) I love the shave I’m getting. My question is approximately now may shaves should I expect from a Hydro 5 blade?

  8. Todd says:

Good question, Rich. It’s tough for me to say because my wife fell madly in like, and has been sharing my razor. I’ve noticed that pretty much as soon as the gel is gone, the blades are dulling fast and need to be changed. I just changed blades, and will try to keep track of the number of shaves for you.
