Get some rest
It’s inevitable—when on any weightloss program, you will plateau. Most often, a change in calories, or a few days off from exercise is just what the doctor ordered. But have you ever asked yourself if the problem could be in the bedroom? (Get your mind out of the gutter!)
A study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine reports that poor sleep may keep dieters from losing body fat.
The subjects that were observed in the study were consistent in their food, exercise, and weight loss. The only thing that shifted was one week they slept 8 ½ hours per night, and the other week they slept 5 ½.
The conclusion was that during the week that the subjects were able to get eight hours, the result was fat loss. The week that they received five hours of sleep resulted in muscle loss.
To anybody that is familiar with exercise, and fitness in general, can tell you that rest is uber important in order for the body to repair itself.
The bottom line, if you’re not getting enough sleep, you may just be wiping out any of the hard work that you put in.

DUDE! Your site looks awesome! I’m going to sleep now.
I saw this when it hit the news, and started bashing myself. I’m bad at this. For my entire life, I’ve had trouble hanging it up and going to sleep.
It becomes self-fulfilling though. Since I’ve paid more attention to my fitness, I’ve been better at getting rest, which feeds weight loss, which makes rest better… and on and on.
@Julie, Thanks for the kind words. We’re giving this theme a shot, and so far I’m really liking it. I hope you got some great sleep.
@Greg, It’s funny how that works, isn’t it. When I’m training at the level that I should be, I do manage to get plenty of sleep. Like you, I have a tough time getting to bed at a decent hour. Instead I end of writing, surfing the web, or vegging in front of the boob-tube.
