Is there any truth to orgasmic exercise?

One of the email alerts that we receive pretty regularly is from Women’s Health magazine. Most of the time, it’s not worth clicking the link. This time something grabbed my attention-we’ll call it my inner pervert.

The headline read “The Coregasm Workout“. I did a double take, and thought to myself, “What on earth are they doing over there?”

After going to their site to see what kind of kinky stuff this magazine was getting into, I was a little surprised to find five pretty average exercises. Essentially, they are all ab exercises. Honestly, it was nothing to write home about. Or was it?

I did some quick recon, and it turns out that this has been a selling feature for yoga for some time. There were comments made by many women raving about doing hanging leg raises and sit-ups with a happy ending.

What we’re talking about is an exercise induced orgasm that occurs through certain core training movements. Some possible reasons for this reaction may be from tightening the pelvic muscles, and stimulating of nerve endings in the lower regions.

Is it fact or fiction? It would appear that it is possible, under the right circumstances, for certain women. Some still say it’s hogwash, but I read it on the internet, so it must be true.

    I can attest (without getting too graphic) that coregasms ARE achievable for SOME women. I’ve experienced them, but not often and not on purpose. Like ALL female orgasms, it’s entirely personal. Not all women can climax this way, and shouldn’t believe any claims that certain exercises can get them “there”. For one, mental stimulation is often an orgasm necessity for women, and most are not likely to get turned on enough to be able to cum this way. Also, every woman achieves orgasm differently. Claims that certain exercises WILL make you climax are far-fetched, and can’t possibly factor in the circumstances required for each individual lady.

    Now, you can certainly get AROUSED by working the pelvic floor muscles (PC muscles), which get stimulated during MANY core exercises. Strengthening those muscles WILL help you achieve stronger & longer orgasms in your normal sexual activities.

    I’d estimate the percentage of women who are able to climax with a COREGASM at maybe 5-10%, and those that are able to are likely to be in great shape (or have strong PC muscles to begin with). Those that aren’t shouldn’t be discouraged, as they will likely see better results in their everyday sex lives with continued core & pelvic floor strengthening exercises. There’s plenty of scientific evidence to support the strengthening of PC muscles correlating to stronger female (and MALE) orgasms.

    For best results, you need to pull your pelvic muscles inward as you do the core exercise. It’s a basic Kegel move, like you’re stopping yourself from peeing mid-stream. These are your PC muscles, and to get full benefits of the COREGASM routine you’re doing, you need to engage these muscles. They won’t get fully engaged during most core exercises UNLESS you’re thinking about it and actively pulling in. This is something most COREGASM articles don’t mention.

    So…

    1. Don’t expect it to happen for you. If it doesn’t, you’re NORMAL.

    2. If it does happen, AWESOME.

    3. You’ll get PLENTY of benefits from core & pelvic floor exercises, including better/stronger orgasms in the bedroom.

    4. It’s fun to do/try regardless.
