Celebrate Independence Day

Celebrate Independence Day

Independence day. The 4th of July. A day of beer, burgers, and fire. It just doesn’t get any more American than that, does it?

BBQ’s, and picnics-It’s a safe bet that most of us will end up at something that resembles a get together where food will be laid out.

  • Portion control-If food is put out in a buffet style, limit how much you put on your plate. For the love of Pete, only make one trip.
  • What’s inside?-Use your head. If something looks creamy, it’s not going to find it’s way on your plate. If it’s sweet, you’re going to avoid it. You know what you should, and should not eat. Do not waiver.
  • Don’t you love me?-Pressure from family and friends is a sure way to cave. Let them know what your choice to watch what you eat is not a reflection of how you feel about them. Spitting it out on the floor may cancel that conversation. Avoid that if possible.
  • Wash it down-If you indulge in an adult beverage, play it safe. Light beer may not taste as good as the “good stuff”, but it’s a better choice. Mixed drinks contain sugar, and many calories. Make water an interval chaser by alternating.

The fourth is a good time. Don’t neglect that. Stay motivated. Be safe. Have a great time.

Ya, this is a tough one for me. I always cook up massive amounts of charred cow and pic flesh, and end up snacking on it all day. I’m not into the sides. Just the meat.
