About

I began my journey in the fitness world by lifting weights for football while in high school. I continued bodybuilding through college, and had a dream of someday owning a gym. After college I started my career as a Design Engineer, got married, had two children… you know, life got in the way of me training.

Fast forward about fifteen years and I was overweight and would get winded when tying my shoes. Something had to change. I dug out my old weight set, we bought a treadmill and started on Body For Life. Our fitness journey snowballed from there, and I began to fill my head with a plethora of information concerning nutrition and exercise.

In December of 2007 PhitZone began as an idea as a fitness ezine (newsletter) that would be delivered to a person’s email. We have changed how we bring information to you since the beginning, and the blog is probably our greatest vehicle so far.

I am in the process of getting my certification as a Personal Trainer. I really do not have any intention of working as a PT, but want the certification, if anything else, for the credentials as a writer in the fitness industry. My beautiful bride and I write original content for the blog, on Examiner.com, not to mention as guest writers on other blogs. There is also a book in the works… you know, in our vast amount of spare time.
